Let’s be honest: I set out to crown Locust Grove’s best pizza, and I ended up eating my feelings in a crab cake and weeping over a ribeye. That’s the thing about this town—the real action happens when you follow a craving for dough and end up at the square, where Pasta Max’s garlic bread outshines any slice I chased.

Between Southern Belle Farm’s fresh strawberries and El Sartén Latino’s empanadas, the range runs from Sunday-night comfort to island-level spice, with Oleo Piro’s gift-ready oil bottles as the curveball you didn’t ask for. I admit, the best margherita here might be wearing a disguise.

Read on, and let your taste buds lead the ambush.

Crab cakes done right
Chicken sandwich like mama's
Warm, attentive service
Generous, well-sized portions
Collard green egg rolls

I admit I came for the pizza, but Southern Fusion stole my heart with a crab cake that actually tastes like the sea, not the fryer. The chicken sandwich reminded me of Sunday dinners at my grandmother's table, all butter and pepper and love. The collard green egg rolls? A playful wink I did not expect. Service was warm without hovering, and the portions made me grateful I wore stretchy pants. Is this the best pizza in Locust Grove? Maybe not in the traditional sense. But if you let the menu lead you astray, you will leave happier than you arrived. I know I did.

Welcoming staff, generous portions
Loaded sweet potatoes with balance
Clean spot near Tanger

Spudz is not a pizzeria, and I will not pretend otherwise. But after a long day of outlet shopping near Tanger, I needed comfort, and they delivered. The loaded sweet potato arrived like a small, edible fortress, topped with a balance of salty, creamy, and a little heat. The staff smiled like they meant it, and the portions made me wonder if they were feeding a family of four. The place was clean, bright, and easy. I did not find pizza. I found a baked potato that hugged me back. Sometimes that is enough.

Warm, personal anniversary welcome

Attentive, memorable service staff
Perfect wine pairing with ribeye

Dovetail is where I took my wife for our anniversary, and the staff somehow knew before I said a word. They wrote us a warm welcome that made her tear up, and the service all night felt like a quiet choreography of care. The ribeye paired with a wine that tasted like plum and cherries and patience. Was it pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Every penny. The food was deliberate, confident, and deeply satisfying. I did not order pizza, and I do not regret it. Some nights demand more than cheese and crust. This was one of those nights.

Best restaurant on the square
Crazy good, flavorful dishes
Great server, 12/10 spot
Perfect bread for dipping
Absolutely worth returning to

Pasta Max Cafe sits on the square like a secret everyone already knows. My server was a 12 out of 10, the kind of person who remembers your water refill before you ask. The bread arrived warm, with a crust that cracked and a center that soaked up garlic butter like a sponge. Every dish I tried was crazy good, from the pasta to the salads. I have eaten on many squares in Georgia, and this one tops them all. I will return, and I will bring friends. This is the kind of place you measure other meals against, even the pizza.

Fast, polite service
Not too greasy
Worth the wait
Extremely hot food

JJ Fish & Chicken in Locust Grove is not fancy, but the line moves fast and the staff stays polite even when the rush hits. My food came out extremely hot, almost too hot to touch, which I appreciate because it means fresh. The fish was not greasy, just crispy and flaky, and the portions made me feel like I won a small lottery. I waited a few minutes, but the wait was worth it. If you crave a quick, honest meal, this spot delivers. I would not call it the best pizza in town, but the chicken wings might change your mind.

Olio Piro

Olio Piro
Highlights
Personal service that stands out
Thoughtful, human-to-human care
Premium oils, perfectly packaged
Ideal for meaningful gifts
Worth ordering for yourself

Olio Piro is not a restaurant, but I am including it because it changed how I think about gifts. The owner treated me like a person, not a transaction, asking about my plans and then wrapping each bottle with care. The oils were premium, the packaging beautiful enough to give without a card. I bought one for a friend and one for myself, and I do not regret either. The human-to-human attention is rare these days. If you need a meaningful present, or just a better drizzle on your salad, order from here. You will feel seen.

Delicious desserts in country store
Efficient, organized strawberry picking
Quick visit from parking to finish

Southern Belle Farm is where I went for strawberries, and I left with a pie. The picking was efficient, organized, and quick, from parking to finish in under an hour. The strawberries were fresh and flavorful, the kind that stain your fingers and make you smile. The country store sold desserts that tasted like my aunt's kitchen, all sugar and butter and nostalgia. The kids were entertained by activities that change with the season, so no one got bored. This is not a pizza place, but it is a place that feeds your soul. I will return for berry season.

Highlights
Authentic Dominican and Puerto Rican flavors
Worth the hour-long drive
Warm and friendly service
Delicious empanadas and quipes
A little bit of everything shines

El Sartén Latino is worth the hour-long drive, and I say that as someone who hates long drives. The flavors are authentic Dominican and Puerto Rican, bold and unapologetic. The empanadas were golden and flaky, the quipes crisp and spiced, and a little bit of everything on my plate shone. The service was warm and friendly, like eating at a relative's house. I did not find pizza here, but I found something better: a meal that reminded me why food is love. If you want a slice of something different, this is your spot.

Stunning delivery, exactly as pictured
Highly recommended for weddings

Sweet Tooth Creations made a cake for my sister's wedding, and I still dream about it. The bride showed them a picture, and the delivery looked exactly like that picture, down to the last fondant flower. The cake was beautiful, but more importantly, it was delicious, moist and light and not overly sweet. The owner communicated with us like a friend, answering every nervous question with patience. I have eaten a lot of wedding cake, and most of it is dry. This one was not. If you are getting married near Locust Grove, order from here. You will not regret it.

Highlights
Family-owned personal touch
Excellent Italian classics praised
Huge portions for sharing
Fresh salads and garlic bread
Inconsistent but memorable visits

Angelos Mediterranean Restaurant is a family-owned place with a personal touch that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. The Italian classics are excellent, and the portions are huge, made for sharing or for bringing home. The salads are fresh, the garlic bread is buttery, and the service is warm. But I have to be honest: some visits are better than others. One night the pasta was perfect, another it was just okay. Still, even the off nights are memorable. If you want a meal that feels like a family dinner, this is worth a try. Just do not expect perfection every time.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Locust Grove

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Locust Grove
Highlights
Clean, friendly, attentive staff
Breakfast starts the day right
Spacious rooms, soft beds
Quiet, pleasant overall stay

I did not expect to be writing about a hotel in a pizza review, but La Quinta changed my mind. The staff greeted me like a returning neighbor, not a guest number. My room was spacious, the bed soft enough to swallow my worries, and the breakfast eggs were surprisingly decent. After a night of mediocre roadside slices, this place felt like a sanctuary. The quiet halls let me sleep like a log. If you are passing through Locust Grove and need a base for your pizza hunt, start here. The welcome alone is worth the stay.

Saturday: 10 AM–11 PM
Highlights
Freshest made-to-order seafood
Enough for two servings
Better than Stockbridge location
Great wings and pizza pans
Menu wording needs clarity

I drove to McDonough because someone swore the pizza here beat every slice in Locust Grove. They were not entirely wrong. The wings arrived hot enough to burn my tongue, and the pizza pan was a greasy, glorious mess. The seafood, though, was the real star, fresh, made to order, and enough for two meals. I will say the menu confuses me, and I ordered something I did not expect. But the food itself? Better than the Stockbridge location, and that is saying something. Bring an appetite and a dictionary.
